MISC:Guantanamo Bay, the oldest US naval base on foreign soil; and the
only one in a communist country, was established by treaty in 1903.
Originally named Cumberland Bay, Guantanamo is one of the largest and
most-sheltered bays in the world. Its location is strategic since it is
close to the Windward passage, which is between Cuba and Haiti; and
links the Atlantic with the Caribbean and Panama. Guantanamo Amateur
Radio Club callsign is KG4AN.
